Poldark Tour in West Cornwall.
A lot of filming for both the original Poldark 1970’s and the new series took place in Cornwall UK.
This romantic saga by Winston Graham portrays lost & found love, rivalry, class struggles with interwoven comedy. You already knew that though. We share with you especially relevant outstandingly beautiful areas used in the series of Ross Poldark’s Cornwall.
A Poldark Tour in West Cornwall can include Lizard Point, the most southerly tip of mainland UK. At Church Cove in Gunwalloe a night time ship-wrecking was filmed. Godolphin House and gardens most noteworthy as Trenwith in the series. Entry fee applicable at Godolphin House & Garden. Wheal Prosper at Rinsey Head can be visited near Helston.
The coast road past Prussia Cove can also result in impressive views of Mounts Bay nearer Penzance, weather permitting.
Keigwin Arms in Mousehole was where the miners held a rebellion. Further along the coast, Lamorna Cove became known as Sawle village.
Porthcurno with a grand beach together with Pedn Vounder nearby figured regularly together with Land’s End.
Porthgwarra has a small secluded beach, part of the St Levan Estate, owned by Lord and Lady St Levan. Ross Poldark took a swim in the nude in the turquoise waters at Porthgwarra cove.
Up Pendeen way after Land’s End.
To view Land’s End and Cape Cornwall from the heights by Ballowall Barrow is superb. Following one of the most beautiful roads in the UK admiring the Celtic Sea of the Atlantic we travel up Pendeen way.
St Just village was used in the production of Poldark. As were two local mines, Botallack Crowns Engine aka Wheal Grambler and Wheal Owles at Levant aka Wheal Leisure.
Botallack Manor and Pendeen Manor Farm were both used as Ross Poldark’s house Nampara.
Francis Poldark and Elizabeth Chynoweth were married at Towednack church near St Ives.
