Eastcoast Charms Tour by Alvajoan of Cornwall.

This tour along the eastcoast of Cornwall can show off Helford with it’s river as a result. There we have admired fishes jumping out of the water playing, seen dolphins and the area Daphne du Maurier used for her ‘Frenchman’s Creek’ setting. If you have some spare time, there is a great 2 hour river cruise from Falmouth showing off this river from it’s best vantage point!

Furthermore, a choice of wonderfully kept gardens are available nearby, Glendurgan and Trebah, both of which attract entry fee.

Following the coast, we come to Falmouth with it’s natural horse-shoe shaped harbour, a busy port and town with quaint little shops along the seafront as well as a great Maritime museum,

Pendennis castle can be visited and across the water from there, one can also see St Mawes castle. Entry fees apply.

On our way to the Roseland peninsula, we also pass Trelissick House & Gardens which can be visited.

The Roseland peninsula.

We cross therefore the river Fal on King Harry ferry and continue to St Just in Roseland. With it’s beautiful ancient church by the shore of the river Fal on sacred grounds from pagan times almost visionary. Scenes for the Poldark series were filmed here.

On our way to Mevagissey, a cobblestreet quaint fishing village, we pass Caerhays castle. The gardens are open to visitors February to June and the castle from March to June. Entry fees apply.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are nearby. These have been lovingly restored by an army of people and beautiful to visit.

My photo for this particular tour is taken at Charlestown harbour due to tall ships often found anchored there. This privately owned town has recently changed owner and with a rich past it has hence played back-drop in many films. There is a Shipwreck & Heritage Museum here.

More Royal connections comes in the form of Restormel castle, should you wish to visit.
