CORNWALL 6-day TOUR.
Come explore the legendary magical Celtic country of Cornwall on our Cornwall 6-day Tour. This part of the UK has more ancient remains than any other county. Water surrounds Cornwall on all sides. Atlantic aka the Celtic Sea on one side, the English channel another and the river Tamar separating it from Devon. Importantly, there is only one city in Cornwall, Truro, and as a result it forms part of our Tour.
Cornwall 6-day Tour starts in central London with an 8 am departure from Lancaster Gate Hotel on Monday morning. This is also where tour ends on Saturday. Enjoy our comfortable licensed chauffeured escorted mini-coaches with ample leg room and space for your luggage. Tours comprise of maximum 14 passengers making them as personal as can be. Venues we visit have Royal, historic, religious and film/drama/TV connections providing stunning scenery as we travel the UK. Hotels are minimum 4* TripAdvisor rating at time of writing and situated 10-15 minutes walk from town centres unless advised. Hotels, however, all have restaurant facilities as a minimum and most certainly a lot more.
Firstly, our attraction on Monday is the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor where we make a stop en route to Padstow. Smugglers once used this as a ‘half-way house’ whilst making their way to London with ill-gotten gains. The building is full of hidden spaces where such items were stashed overnight. Here we have a museum in honour of Daphne du Maurier who wrote lyrically about and in Cornwall for years. Our first day is spent mainly travelling to Cornwall. After check in to our 4*+ Padstow Hotel, we have an evening of leisure. Enjoy!
A busy and bustling harbour greets visitors to Padstow. Taking a walk along the river Camel estuary for instance provides fabulous views. A locally brewed beer is named after the local sandbank here, DOOM BAR. Padstow, like Falmouth and Exeter have a variety of restaurants.
TINTAGEL, PORT ISAAC & PRIDEAUX PLACE.
After breakfast we set off for Tintagel Castle and the picturesque village of Tintagel. The Old Post Office is certainly well worth a visit. Legend has it King Arthur resided here and as a result we have a recent statue in place to commemorate. A newly built bridge should provide easier access for all. Across from Tintagel Castle is a modern hotel called Camelot Castle. Second port of call for today is Port Isaac, a small fishing village and home to Doc Martin. Finally, we visit Prideaux Place, a superb Elizabethan Manor House with gardens and deer park. We take a guided tour of the house. Prideaux Place has been backdrop for many Rosamunde Pilcher books and Winston Graham wrote some of his Poldark series here. After a day of sightseeing, our hotel in Padstow beckons for a free evening.
ST MICHAEL’S MOUNT & ST IVES.
We depart from our Padstow Hotel and set off for St Michael’s Mount after breakfast. Take a moment and admire the former Monastery and fabulous gardens. Locally we call it a ‘castle’ although of course it isn’t. Next shout is St Ives where time is alotted to acquaint yourselves with the town on your own. So much to see and experience; St Ives Tate, Leach’s Pottery, sandy beaches, The Sloop ancient pub, choice is Yours. Finally we depart St Ives for our 4*+ Hotel in Falmouth and an evening of leisure. Day 3 of our Cornwall 6-day tour comes to an end.
A FULL DAY TOUR OF WEST CORNWALL.
Following breakfast we Tour sightseeing Penzance, Newlyn, Mousehole, The Merry Maidens, Porthcurno & Minack Theatre and Land’s End. Up Penwith way, we take a look at Botallack Mine where Poldark was filmed. Lanyon Quoit is a splendid feature not to be missed out here. At Zennor we visit the legendary Mermaid seat, hand-carved in wood and over 500 years old. Consequently fitting in time for lunch, a cuppa or two and comfort stops just about sees the day. This Tour is full of local tales, legends, ancient remains, life today, history and ingenious inventions. After that on return to our Hotel, the evening is free to explore the bustling night life of Falmouth. Enjoy!
TRURO, THE LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN & MEVAGISSEY.
We only have ONE CITY in Cornwall so today we visit Truro Cathedral. After the ambiance of this magnificent building we’re off to The Lost Gardens of Heligan. A guided tour allows us to take in the splendid gardens. Mevagissey is a small fishing village with cobbled streets and a busy harbour. En route to Exeter for our overnight stop we pay Mevagissey a visit. After checking into our Exeter Hotel we have a free evening to enjoy the ancient city walls and Exeter Cathedral. In short, the Cornish part of the Cornwall 6-day tour comes to an end.
